Below Freezing Dangers

2/11/2020 (Permalink)

When the temperature starts to drop below freezing, bad things can easily happen. One of the most common winter disasters are frozen pipes. If you have never experienced it, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. A frozen pipe has the ability to do tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to your home or business. The pipes most likely to freeze are:

  • Pipes that run outside
  • Water supply pipes in unheated interior areas like basements, crawl spaces, attics, garages, or kitchen cabinets
  • Pipes that run against exterior walls that have little or no insulation

One of the best ways to prevent frozen pipes are to add additional insulation to your home or business. If frozen pipes are something you experience often, it may be worth relocating exposed pipes to provide increased protection. If you experience a pipe break that floods your home or business, call immediately.
